The Malm Zircon Gas Fireplace: Mid-Century Modern Icon in Any Color You Can Dream
Teilen
Some fireplaces heat a room. The Malm Zircon defines one.
Since the 1960s, Malm's iconic cone-shaped floating fireplace has been the statement piece of architects, interior designers, and homeowners who refuse to settle for ordinary. The Zircon gas fireplace brings that same unmistakable silhouette into the modern era — with clean-burning gas convenience, serious efficiency, and a color palette that turns a fireplace into fine art.
A Rainbow of Finishes — Made to Order, Made in the USA
This is where the Zircon truly stands apart. While most gas fireplaces come in black or maybe brushed nickel, the Malm Zircon is available in a stunning range of finishes:
- 🎨 Powder Coat Colors — Choose virtually any RAL color. Available with a matching colored base or a classic matte black base.
- 🟤 Pure Copper — Hand-hammered and hand-finished, each copper Zircon is a one-of-a-kind work of art that develops a rich patina over time.
- 🟡 Pure Brass — Warm, luminous, and timelessly glamorous. Hand-made to order.
- ⚪ Stainless Steel — Sleek, industrial, and endlessly modern.
- ⚫ Matte Black — The classic. Clean, bold, and architectural.
- ⬤ Gloss Black — High-shine and dramatic, for spaces that demand maximum impact.

Two Gas Options: Direct Vent or B-Vent
Direct Vent Zircon (from $9,470)
The Direct Vent model features the Liberty L234 Gas Insert by Regency, delivering up to 23,500 BTU at approximately 74% efficiency — one of the highest efficiency ratings available in a freestanding cone fireplace. It draws combustion air from outside and vents exhaust directly out, making it safe for any room without a traditional chimney. Heats 1,200–1,400 sq ft.
B-Vent Zircon (from $6,109)
Available in 30", 34", and 38" sizes, the B-Vent model delivers approximately 25,000 BTU and heats up to 2,000 sq ft. It uses a traditional vertical flue and is available in both natural gas and propane. A more accessible entry point into the Malm Zircon family.
Safety You Can Count On
The Malm Zircon gas fireplace is engineered with safety at its core:
- Ceramic safety glass — Tempered and rated for high-heat direct flame exposure
- Automatic thermal damper — Closes automatically when the fire is out, preventing drafts and heat loss
- Millivolt pilot system — Operates without electricity; the fireplace works even during a power outage
- Proflame remote control — Adjust flame height and fan speed from across the room
- Variable speed blower — Distributes heat evenly without overheating
- Direct spark ignition — Reliable, consistent lighting every time
- Lift-off screen — Easy access for maintenance and cleaning
Efficiency That Pays for Itself
At up to 74% efficiency (Direct Vent), the Zircon converts the vast majority of its fuel into usable heat — far outperforming traditional wood-burning fireplaces (typically 10–30% efficient) and even many conventional gas inserts. The ceramic fiber logs with glowing embers provide the visual warmth of a real fire with none of the ash, creosote, or wood-hauling.
Made to Order — Worth the Wait
The Malm Zircon is made to order in the USA. All finishes carry a minimum lead time of 6 months or more — this is a handcrafted, heirloom-quality piece, not a mass-produced appliance. We recommend ordering early, especially if you’re working toward a specific move-in date or project completion.
