Why Chimney Pipe Specification Matters
A fireplace without a properly designed venting system is just a box. The chimney pipe is what makes the whole installation work — and getting it wrong means callbacks, failed inspections, and costly rework after walls are closed.
For designers and contractors, the challenge is that chimney pipe systems are highly specific to the fireplace model, the ceiling height, the roof pitch, the framing configuration, and local code requirements. There’s no universal kit. Every build is different.

Scenario 1: New Construction — Straight Vertical Run (Flat Ceiling)
The most common residential configuration. Stove sits on the floor, flue runs straight up through a framed ceiling opening and exits at the roof.

Scenario 2: New Construction — Vaulted Ceiling with Offset
Common in A-frame, cabin, and open-plan builds. Requires elbows to navigate the slope and transition to a vertical Class A run.

Inserting a new stove or insert into an existing masonry fireplace. The existing flue becomes the chase; a liner and adapter bridge the old and new systems.

Scenario 5: Coffee Roasting Exhaust System
Drum roasters produce high-temperature smoke, chaff, and VOC exhaust that requires a properly rated, correctly sized flue. This is not a standard residential chimney pipe application — sizing depends on your roaster’s CFM output, exhaust collar diameter, and local commercial code.
